Palliative Care and Hospice
What is Palliative care vs Hospice?
Palliative care specializes in medical care for people living with serious illnesses, such as cancer or heart failure. Patients in palliative care may receive medical care for their symptoms, or palliative care, along with treatment intended to cure their serious illness.
Palliative care refers to relieving the symptoms of an incurable medical condition. Its focus is on easing stress and improving the overall quality of life. Unlike hospice — which people often associate with end-of-life care — palliative care can benefit people of any age and at any stage of a serious illness.
Hospice care focuses on quality of life when a cure is no longer possible, or the burdens of treatment outweigh the benefits.
Hospice care includes pain and symptom management, emotional support, medications, and medical supplies, coaching for caregivers, grief support, and wound management if needed. Medicare-qualified hospices must provide a 24/7 call service.
We work with several companies who provide transitional/palliative care as well as hospice care in the home setting.
